The map itself needs no account and stores nothing about you. This note is about the assistant, which does.
What we store when you sign in
When you sign in with Google or Microsoft we keep your email address, which provider you used, and the date you first signed in. That is the account.
Each day you use the assistant we keep a count: how many questions you asked and how many tokens the answers used. We do this to run the free tier fairly and to see how the service is used. We do not keep the questions themselves, nor the answers.
Where your questions go
Your question, and the open data the assistant looks up to answer it, are sent to Anthropic, whose model writes the answer. Anthropic processes that text on our behalf. We send them no account details: no name, no email.
Sign-in itself is handled by Google or Microsoft together with Supabase, which hosts our accounts and data in Ireland, inside the EU. Nothing about your account is sold or shared with anyone else. The map also shows the registered owner company of large fishing vessels, taken from the Directorate of Fisheries' public vessel register; where a vessel is owned by a private person we show "private owner" instead of the name.
Cookies
A sign-in cookie keeps you signed in. We would also like to use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages are read; it sets its own cookies and sends your page views and a shortened IP address to Google. It runs only if you accept it in the banner, and you can change that here at any time. There is no advertising and no other tracking.
Your rights
You can see what we hold and delete your account yourself at any time on your account page. Deletion removes the account and its usage counts for good. If you want a copy of your data, or have any question about this note, write to andreas@smpl.no.
