Discovery and drilling

The field was proven by exploration well 25/4-3 in 1974. The directorate's wellbore register lists 121 wellbores on Alvheim: 13 exploration and 108 development. The deepest reaches 7,200 metres measured depth. Water depth at the field's installations is 119 to 125 metres.
