Discovery and drilling

The field was proven by exploration well 6507/5-1 in 1998. The directorate's wellbore register lists 48 wellbores on Skarv: 13 exploration and 31 development, plus 4 others. The deepest reaches 7,043 metres measured depth. Water depth at the field's installations is 324 to 420 metres.
